Dr. Lana Watler, DVM
Practice Principal
Educated at the prestigious Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, Dr. Lana Watler became the first Caymanian to earn a DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine). Her academic talents gained her numerous awards for clinical proficiency, and she graduated as her year’s most outstanding student. Once back in Cayman, Dr. Lana served as a Veterinary Officer for the Department of Agriculture, where she worked with all types of animals, coordinated animal control and welfare initiatives, and acted as liaison with the Humane Society. She then joined a private small-animal practice as an Associate, and two years later, the opportunity to open her own practice arose.
Dr. Lana’s childhood pet “Pam” was her inspiration for becoming a veterinarian. To Dr. Lana, Pam “was a dear pet of 21 years who showed me compassion, unconditional love, and the power of the human-animal bond.” A plaque on the hospital wall is dedicated to Pam and Dr. Lana’s father who taught her the value of a good education and encouraged her to follow her dreams.
Dr. Lana has been at the forefront of promoting quality pet ownership here on island since she returned from her studies in Canada. Her commitment to provide a high standard of care, competence, and exceptional service has raised the bar for veterinary medicine in Cayman. Leading our small, but dedicated team is a constant but highly rewarding challenge and Dr. Lana particularly enjoys meeting new clients and educating the community in knowing how to help their pets live longer, healthier, happier lives.
